Majorana 1

Microsoft announced Majorana 1 on February 19, 2025 as its first quantum processing unit (QPU) built on a topological core. The chip contains 8 topological qubits with the ability to scale to 1000.

Majorana 1 is a significant milestone in the world of quantum computing. It has potential to create a ready-to-deploy revolutionary quantum machine.

Celebrating Our Successes

We wanted to celebrate the announcement and hard work of all the engineers at Microsoft Quantum. I illustrated the Majorana 1 and used that design for stickers, t-shirts, and desks mats.

Showcasing Our Successes

April 2025 All Hands: 3ft Majorana 1 made with layered foamcore.
I produced the project with help from Phong Tran and Pureum Lee for animations and projection mapping

May 2024 All Hands: Sharpie and foamcore shapes cut by hand

September 2024 All Hands: Two short-throw projectors with graphic made in After Effects

Cultivating the Culture

I showcased the importance of DEI through quantum imagery that link to Microsoft’s cultural pillars. These posters were printed on vinyl and displayed in each neighborhood in the Microsoft Quantum offices.
